Eastern Sierra Land

The Eastern Sierra is truly a recreation paradise, from the tall mountain peaks laced with lakes and streams to the valley floors. Visitors and residents of this beautiful area find gorge.jpg (42682 bytes)much to enjoy. The United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power own and manage most of the land in the Eastern Sierra, keeping the area wide open and available for public use.

The public enjoys recreational uses such as fishing, hiking, hunting, bike riding, nature studies and photography on almost all of DWP’s 310,000 acres, and on more than 3 million acres of land owned by Forest Service and BLM in Inyo and Mono Counties.
