Hollywood Reservoir Landslide Repair
Hollywood Reservoir Landslide Repair Schedule and Public Access Information as of April 4, 2009
This is the latest schedule for the Hollywood Reservoir landslide repair project. In addition, this report identifies when certain areas may be open for public access.
Work has
begun in preparation for Phase I of the Lakeridge
Drive Landslide Remediation and Slope Repair project. DWP internal forces
have completed construction of a ramp off of Cahuenga
East which will connect to an existing fire road located on the west side of Lakeridge Drive ridge to the start of the repair. The
construction is 85% complete. This work is anticipated to be completed by May
2009.
Phase I
will consist of a private contractor placing cast-in-place piles as a means to
support three failed sections of the slopes below Lakeridge
Drive. Phase I is estimated to be completed by Winter
2009.
Phase II of this project is estimated to be completed by Winter 2010. The scope of Phase II is to restore the failed slopes using engineered fills.
Due to slope stability issues and the nature of construction on the west side, no portion of the west side patrol road will be open for public access until completion of Phase II.
Mulholland
Tank Landslide Stabilization Project: DWP Forces started the slope repair
in June 2008. The proposed repair is a two tier retaining wall system with
engineered fill as a means of added support. The construction is 90%
complete. This work is scheduled to be completed by May 2009.
Due to
these construction projects, the east side patrol road and the Mulholland Dam
will have restricted public access through the Tahoe Gate and the Weidlake Gate.
Restricted Access due to Landslide Repair Construction
· North Gate - closed until Winter 2010.
· Weidlake and Tahoe Gates - partial, limited access subject to construction constraints (Saturday, Sunday 6:30 am - 6 pm; Monday to Friday 4pm – 6pm) until August 2009.
· Hollywood Reservoir Complex information line is (323) 463-0830.
The LADWP will provide updates as necessary and signs will be posted providing access information along with updating the public informational phone number (323) 463-0830.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience while the LADWP completes this important landslide remediation project.
